Если первый раз взглянуть на схему нижегородского метро, можно, конечно, подумать «а зачем оно вообще там нужно?» – всего 13 станций, расположены в промышленном районе, да и, к тому же, подземка не решает проблемы быстрой переправки на другой берег Оки к центру города. Однако, даже в небольшой по масштабам подземке (никакого сравнение с московски метро) есть много всяких интересностей 
«Ключевая» станция всего метро в Нижнем - Московская. Расположена в районе Московского вокзала и является единственной (пока) станцией, оборудованной эскалаторами (правда, много лет они уже не работают). Только ради этой станции следует спуститься в метро, оказавшись в Нижнем. Эта станция – единственная в России (и, вроде, в СНГ) имеет 2 платформы и 4 пути. Таким вот интересным образом реализована пересадка на другую линию (пока обе линии функционируют как одна, поэтому дополнительные пути используются как запасные).
Доехав до этой станции, поезд останавливается на 2 минуты, пока машинист перейдёт в другой конец состава, после чего едет в обратную сторону (туда, откуда приехал на станцию), но при этом уже по другому маршруту. Так и реализован «переход» на другую линию.
В нижегородском метро очень темно. Хотя, помню, когда был здесь первый раз в 1997м, то на свете так не экономили. Вот, например, станция Заречная - на платформе ещё более-менее светло, а вот там, где пути – совсем темно и страшно.
Кстати, всего метро перевозит менее 100 тысяч пассажиров в сутки (это для двухмиллионного города!). В час пик, бывает, вообще никого нет на станциях. Вот – станция Бурнаковская, снимок сделан в 9:48 утра.
Однако, к концу этого года проблему, возможно, удастся решить – почти завершено строительство метромоста через Оку, по которому скоро поезда пойдут до станции Горьковская в верхней части города.
Так метромост выглядел ровно год назад, 21 февраля 2008. Сейчас он уже почти достроен.
А так в августе 2008 года выглядела территория, под которой и будет располагаться Горьковская.
Поезда ходят с большим интервалом – около 7 минут. В часы пик – 4-5 минут.
Стоимость проезда в метро на данный момент составляет 8 рублей (как и в остальном электротранспорте), оплата производится жетонами, которые выглядят так.
В кассе отдают не более 4х штук в одни руки (хотя никто не мешает встать в другую кассу и купить ещё 4 штуки). Либо связано это с тем, что стоимость жетона может в любой момент подорожать, а наши люди-то приавсливые 
, либо с тем, что в питерском метро действуют точно такие же жетоны. В любом случае, наш народ не перехитрить.
И ещё одна станция, заслуживающая внимания – Буревестник. Расположена она на поверхности , имеет всего один выход – к Сормовскому шоссе. Говорят, что бывший мэр, при котором строилась станция, специально подогнал дату открытия станции к выборам, в надежде, что это ему поможет как-то оставить за собой важный пост. Не помогло.
Отделка станции уже довольно современная, по сравнению с остальными, но уже нет какой-то изюминки, да и мрачное всё.

Удивительно, но именно эти жетоны продаются в Питере. С такими надписями: «Нижегородский Метрополитен».
Кстати, с декабря все жетоны в Нижнем стали с дырками. Видимо, как раз, чтобы в Питер не возили с собой.
